Margaret R. Walker - Advisor

Margaret R. Walker was named Vice President of Dow Engineering and Technology in 2004 and is the executive charged with deploying differentiated performance in capital delivery across all geographies and investments. This included improvements in existing assets to drive Dow’s competitive advantage for quality performance and process safety.  During her tenure in this role, Walker delivered, year after year, improved performance in capital delivery, quality and process safety performance and installed capital assets. Prior to this role, she served as Business Director of Dow Contract Manufacturing Services, an early venture into service and solutions delivery by Dow.

Walker’s professional career as a chemical engineer with Dow, beginning in 1974, has been dynamic and innovative, in global leadership positions combining profit and loss responsibility, general and technical management, operations leadership and supply chain management.  Walker has held leadership positions in Operations Leadership, General Management, Engineering and Supply Chain. She has executed projects, from small to giga in all geographies, inclusive of critical strategies for sustainability in emerging regions and capital effectiveness in all geographies. Walker created models of strategic partnerships with key suppliers to drive the technology shift for Dow’s future expansion and has established successful Engineering Centers in multiple geographies including India. 

Walker has served as member of Board of Governors for The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affliates (SOCMA), serving on the Executive Committee and as Chairman of the Board.  She also served as a member of Texas Tech Engineering Deans Council and was recognized by Texas Tech University as “The Distinguished Engineer.”  Walker was awarded Dow’s prestigious Genesis Award for Excellence in People Leadership and was also awarded the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Management Division Award for 2009.

Most recently, Walker was honored for leading the Dow organization and project construction teams to a safety performance that is unprecedented in the Chemical Industry.

Presently, Walker serves as a Board Member for Independent Project Analysis Inc.
