Carl May

Carl brings joy of life and humor that engages individuals in the Bright Side process. When learning is embraced as a life-long skill, we can realize many of our dreams - the dreams he helps participants experience are personal and impact all parts of life. For the company or organization the results have been better communication and relationships, which increase retention, productivity and camaraderie. As Lead Facilitator, Carl brings a blend of experiences from manufacturing, education, professional services and non-profit organizations to help integrate individual core values and beliefs with their skills, designed to support the achievement of organizational and individual goals. Carl's academic background includes a Master's in Organization Development plus additional postgraduate studies in Organizational Development.

David Meyers

Dave brings specialty focus to Bright Side clients through his expertise in efficiently streamlining operations. Before his partnership with Bright Side as Operational Effectiveness Specialist, Dave's 32-year career in Engineering and operations began with General Motors and Delphi Automotive Systems. His expertise stems from highlights of his career, including various leadership positions in Engineering and Manufacturing, as well as leadership in GM and Delphi for operational effectiveness based on extensive study and work with the Toyota Production System in Japan and the United States. Dave also initiated and led two global organizations within Delphi, one responsible for Global Manufacturing Engineering and one for Global Cost Control and Customer Price Reduction. Dave was selected for a Sloan Fellowship, obtained an M.S. degree in Management from Stanford University, and also serves on the advisory board to the Engineering school at PSU, the Local United Way, and the American Heart Association.

David Hatfield

Dave brings specialty industry focus to the Bright Side team through his role as Facilitor and Innovation Specialist. He also brings 25 years of experience working at The Dow Chemical Company, where one highlight of his career included the launching of CALIBRE® Polycarbonate resins. Besides role as facilitator at Bright Side, he is the managing director of the Hatfield Group LLC-a consultancy that enables companies engaged in growth to rapidy build the new business development capabilities they need to succeed. Dave hopes to share with you his contagious joy and passion for making a difference in people's lives and organizations.

Gudrun Lantelme

Gudrun is a Psychologist, Consultant, and Facilitator for Geschka Partner located in Darmstadt, Germany and Bright Side, Inc. Gudrun has worked with Professor Doctor Horst Geschka, an international expert in creativity and innovation, and Bright Side, specializing in the fields of radical innovation, with focus on the German markets. Gudrun has facilitated creativity training seminars and creative problem-solving workshops, and has written several articles in German business journals. Her work as a trainer, facilitator and coach has also been influenced by her expertise as a psychologist.

Joyce Friel

With more than 25 years' experience in the organizational development, human resources, and process improvement consulting fields, Joyce serves as a business leader, strategist, facilitator, catalyst and developer. Her applications' experience comes from having led change in both Fortune 500 and smaller organizations, including Eastman Kodak, IBM and Kodak Polychrome Graphics. She has consulted for numerous commercial graphic arts firms in the US and Canada, a major Colorado River management and oversight organization, regional health care organizations, state and federal agencies, and many private and non-profit groups. As a visionary leadership strategist and catalyst for change, she concentrates her expertise in the areas of strategic planning, measurement and goal alignment; change management; leadership development, group process design and facilitation. Joyce is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and has a master's degree in management with an honor degree from Regis University. Her enthusiasm and commitment for building capability in organizations is evident in the energy and conviction she brings to her work and she knows how to apply her experience in a hands-on, practical, results-oriented manner.

   

Michael Barker

Michael, an Industrial Engineer, is Facilitator, and Organization Development Consultant for Bright Side with insights and practical experience that can be applied to bring about the transformation of human, technical, and organizational systems. Specific competencies include developing and facilitating organization change interventions and processes, designing and delivering experiential learning activities, and applying lean principles and techniques for significant improvement of manufacturing and enterprise systems. Michael has 30 years experience with Delphi Automotive Systems and General Motors Corporation in Industrial Engineering, Training & Organization Development, Manufacturing, Supplier Development, and Quality Control & Reliability.

Maressa Smith

Maressa's background in the fields of Leadership and Psychology, and a diverse career track ranging from Social Work to experiential and language education in Thailand, has lent her to embrace the multi-dimensional position she has at Bright Side. Maressa is Director of Design & Projects , where she coordinates much of the behind-the-scenes for corporate workshops, seminars and keynotes. Maressa also collects and analyzes change measurement statistical data, and writes the text in much of the company's material, survey protocol, and workbooks. Maressa hopes to shares her warmth and passion for making a positive difference in our world.

Mike Walton

Mike focuses on design, development and delivery of our programs to educators. Mike also has a rich background working with professional development for a variety of clients. He has worked in the field of experiential education and adventure - based professional development since the mid 80's, and has worked with small local businesses to Fortune 500 companies. Mike's passion is helping individuals in organizations identify their strengths, talents and personal gifts; their contribution to the organization. Mike enjoys workshops, and is equally interested in reinforcements and onsite follow-up, making sure clients know how to make the Bright Side process work in their real world.

Pauline McDowell

Pauline had a long and successful career with, and retired as an executive of, the Procter & Gamble Company. While with Procter & Gamble, Pauline held management positions in Information Technology, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Operations. As Associate Director of Global Supply Chain Operations, she worked with businesses worldwide to develop Supply Chain Operating Strategies, and led a global Supply Chain Capability Development Network. She is one of the architects of the Procter and Gamble Consumer Driven Supply Network Strategy (which has led to P&G being named one of the top 3 supply chains on AMR's Top 25 Supply Chains list every year since 2004). With the P&G acquisition of the Gillette Corporation, Pauline co-led the integration of Gillette Global Supply Planning. Pauline is a graduate of Leadership Cincinnati, and has served on several community boards in the Greater Cincinnati area. She is immediate past President of the Board of Directors for 4C for Children, a Childcare Resource & Referral Agency which serves 15 counties in Ohio and 8 counties in Northern Kentucky.

Robin R. Thompson Biography


Robin R. Thompson is an energetic, leader-development professional with 15 years experience in culture change and facilitation. Having worked in profit, non-profit and higher-education industries, she brings hands-on experience of relationship building through individual and team coaching. The breadth of her work includes customized workshops and seminars & organizational and cultural designs and facilitation.
Robin focuses on sales, design and facilitation.  Her background in communications, training, and organizational development has supported individual and business goals by building trusting relationships that create workable solutions for industry change. She has coached and trained international students in preparation for their life mission in global communities.

Robin earned her Master’s Degree from Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management in Positive Organizational Development.

Shannon Valentine

Shannon Valentine’s background in journalism and religious studies uniquely positions her to provide top quality work in the areas of management, sales, human resources, accounting, and beyond. As a business analyst and the newest member of the Bright Side team, Shannon has the opportunity to oversee and closely work in all aspects of the business. As an alumnus of Indiana University in Bloomington, she serves as the Vice President of Events of the Cleveland Chapter of the IU Alumni Association. She also serves on the board of Verb Ballets, a Cleveland contemporary dance company. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading voraciously, and spending time with family and friends.
